For those who wish it is possible to take a walk to view some of the incredible species of birds which have been identified at Lakeside and in the surrounding area. Over 200 migratory and indiginous species are to be found in this special area of Tamil Nadu. As well as an introduction to the exotic birdlife and butterflies of southern India, you may also be lucky enough to see hare, wildpigs, guar, porcupine, mongoose, langur monkeys and if really lucky, leopard.

Even within the gardens at lakeside you may be lucky to spot our resident kingfisher and a short walk brings you to the shores of Kamaraj Lake where a variety of water birds feed. Glance behind to the foot of the Lower Palani Hills and you might be lucky enough to spot an eagle. Lakeside is the perfect base from which to discover all the wonderful birds and creatures of the area.

The guesthouse and cottages are nestled within 4.5 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens where you can spend many secluded hours of rest. The lake is a short stroll away and you can even walk all the way round to take in the wonderful views.

If landscape inspires you, why not spend the day climbing up into the hills behind the guesthouse where you will be able to take in the amazing panorama. Birds and wildlife will be your companions here as you take in the extraordinary scents and sights of Tamil Nadu's majestic countryside. Alternatively you can simply relax and enjoy the magnificent lake and mountain scenery from a comfortable chair on the Lakeside veranda.
